The company, established as Accurate Construction Company in New Jersey in 1954, quickly became one of the leading home builders in the state. In 1959, the Company was renamed U.S. Home and Development, Inc. In 1969, with the acquisition of Rutenberg Homes, Inc., and Imperial Land Corporation, two leading homebuilders on the west coast of Florida owned by Charles and Arthur Rutenberg, the company was well on its way to becoming a national leader in the homebuilding industry. During the following few years, the company continued to strengthen, with the acquisition of 21 regional homebuilders and a new name, U.S. Home Corporation. In 1971, U.S. Home shares were listed on the New York Stock Exchange. |
